Started thinking of wrapping worthless objects in Gold
Gold is seen as more valuable than others
I decided to encase a used coffee cup from the bin, already seen as worthless rubbish in gold wrap to see if it is then considered worthy from ‘worthless to worthy’. If I have the golden cup placed in a gallery space, what would peoples reactions be. Would the viewer consider it art work or waste?
I then decided to place it in its ‘natural habitat’ back in the canteen to see if people reacted.
If it was on a plinth would that make it untouchable? I will make a plinth especially tall to elevate its superiority.
